Q. What similarities and Differences are there between content of each video and how Madonna is portrayed?

A. With time and each music video, Madonna has grown stronger as a woman and is portrayed as a more dominant figure with each following music video. For example in her music video for “Like a Virgin” (one of Madonna’s first singles) she was portrayed to be a young, pure and innocent woman that was controlled by the lion which symbolised a male dominance. She is shown being controlled. In one of her latest singles like “Music” Madonna is portrayed as a stronger woman. She is displayed as the main focal point in the video, therefore being the most dominant figure in the whole video. She is shown as the leader, with people following her into clubs and leaving when she leaves.

There are also similarities between these two music videos “Like a Virgin” and “Music” the similarity is, there are lyrics used from “Like a Virgin” in the music video “Music”

Q. How would you describe Madonna as a star?

A. Madonna is very powerful figure in the pop world and has been described as the Queen of Pop. She has achieved this because she has a very energetic and dance related music videos and performances. With every music video and performance she does, she is the main focal point and therefore is the most dominant figure portrayed. As part of her image she plays around with her sexuality and this is one of the reasons why she is such a dominant figure in the music world.
