Summary of Group Meeting 28/09/10

Group Meeting – Planning

On Tuesday the 28th of September 2010 my group consisting of Jack Taylor, Nick Norman, Jake Parsons and Charlie Bennett held a 15 minute meeting discussing what will actually happen in our music video and what actually needs to be done to produce it. Therefore on the agenda was the discussion of ‘Props and costumes’ ‘Roles’ ‘Location’ ‘Production schedule’ ‘Equipment’ and ‘Health and Safety’

The artist we have chosen to base our music video on is ‘Chase & Status’ with the song called ‘Let you go’ The original video is based on a Jeremy Kyle like figure, who hosts his own TV chat show, helping people with problems etc. However, the night before the camera follows him as he takes drugs, get drunk, sleeps with different woman and crashes his car. This therefore shows him contradicting his TV personality and shows he has a wild personal life.

We have decided to use a similar theme of a ‘double lifestyle’ as shown in the original video. Below is a summary of each item we discussed:

Props and costumes

After a small discussion as a group we agreed that we are either going to use the character of a TV host just like in the original video, a judge or a doctor.

Therefore we would need a suit, a barrister’s outfit or a scrub.

Roles

We have decided that Jack Taylor will play the main actors role, Nick Norman will be the camera man and play small roles in the background, Jake Parsons will be the main person editing and will also play small roles in the music video, and Charlie Bennett will play small roles as well but will manager the group while filming.

Location

We agreed that we would use a night club/bar location for the characters wild side but also the streets in town for the driving and drug taking scenes. However we have not decided fully on actual locations such as exactly what night clubs due to the fact of permission to use them.

Equipment

During the making of our film I will need to use the following equipment:

.Camcorder – Sony

.Digital camera – To take screenshot for our online diary

.Apple Mac - To store and collect film clips

.Editing software - To create our film (Final Cut)

.Lighting - To create the mood of the film and make it visible for the audience

.Tripod - To keep the camera steady and not shake when filming

.Microphone - The microphone on the camera will not be of good enough quality so a microphone will me necessary

.Tape - To record our film on

Production schedule

We have been told that filming can commence on the 4th of October and finish on the 19th of October

Therefore we will start editing immediately after we finish filming

Group Meeting - 21/09/10

Minute Sheet Discussion Summary

The four members of our group held a 15 minute meeting during a lesson on Monday 21st September. Up to this point we had decided to do a Music Video as opposed to a film and it was now time to discuss which artist we would use and which song we would do a video for.

First we had to decide upon a genre and so we all listed our favourite genres and the one’s which we thought we could make a good video out of. We discussed both positive and negative points for the genre’s and narrowed it down to just two which we thought we could do. In the end the group voted to do dub step, hip hop and break beat band Chase and Status.

We then quickly listed as many Chase and Status songs as possible and listed the pros and cons for each one. Some people were in favour of one song and some were in favour of another but as a group we eventually decided to do a video for the song ‘Let you go’.

The original video sees a man, who is a TV presenter for a British Daytime Talk Show, helping out some people on his show with their problems and then, after leaving the studio, it becomes clear that he has plenty of problems himself. He lives a double life as after scathing his guests, he buys drugs and gets drunk. We discusses several ways in which we could do a music video to the music.

Group Meeting - 20/09/10

Summary of Meeting 20-9-10

Group Meeting 20th September

Group Members Present: Charlie Bennett, Jack Taylor, Nick Norman & Jake Parsons.

We have held a ten minute meeting to discuss the different aspects of planning our music video. The band we have chosen is Chase and Status and their song ‘Let you go’.

The original video sees a TV host, much like Jeremy Kyle, helping people out with their problems. However after the show, we follow him as he heads off to get drunk, take drugs and sleep with different women. We see the two different sides to his personality and working life.

We plan to do a similar thing to the original video and we sat down and talked about different ways we could do this. We assigned each Group member a different role; Jack Taylor, Production Schedule & Health and Safety. Nick Norman, Props & Costumes. Jake Parsons, Location Report and Charlie Bennett, Equipment.

We haven’t yet decided on who is going to do what in the production of the Music Video, but the story line is going to be similar to that of the original, just with a few twists. We decided that we are going to include a suit, for the TV part and equipment such as cameras and tri-pods are essential. We also have decided that we are going to need to different locations to film the video, but we are yet to decide where.
