Summary of Research

In summary after completing all my research I feel it has given me more knowledge and understanding of the music video industry. Including how they are filmed, produced and distributed. Therefore it has given our group the right ideas to make and produce our own music video from the research I have done.

From my research and taking in all I have learned as a group we feel the artist ‘Chase and status’ would be very interesting band to do a music video for their song ‘Let you go’ because it is a new song in the charts at the moment meaning people can easily relate to it. The genre of the song is Drum and bass, Dubstep and a bit of Hip-hop therefore we are engaging in new genres meaning our creatively can be expressed in our music video. But also because our entire group enjoy listening to these type of genres so in turn we would all enjoy making our music video.

Target Audience

Music videos:

For music videos in general I believe the age group of the target audience can be ranged from around 16 to 30 years. For our music video, this can be related to by the audience, as our main characters are teenagers/young adults, providing a pathway for connection from the audience.
The gender of the target audience isn't as specific as age ranges, but is important nonetheless. I believe for music videos the majority of the audience would equally be shared between male and females. For our music video, the gender of the target audience would mainly be males, though females could be interested in the film also.

Genres of our music video

Drum and bass:

For the genre drum and bass I believe the age group of the target audience is around 16-25 years. For our video, this can be related to by the audience, as our main characters are teenagers/young adults, providing a pathway for connection from the audience.
The gender of the target audience isn't as specific as age ranges, but is important nonetheless. I believe for Drum and Bass the majority of the audience would be male but I feel females enjoy this genre of music as much as the males. For our music video, the gender of the target audience would mainly be males, because of the alcohol, drug and behaviour in our film. However females could also be attracted to the video.

Dubstep:

For the genre Dubstep I believe the age group of the target audience is around 15-25 years. For our video, this can be related to by the audience, as our main characters are teenagers/young adults, providing a pathway for connection from the audience.
The gender of the target audience I believe would mostly be males because the vibe given off Dubstep singles is a dark, grimy atmosphere I feel this would attract males more than females. For our music video, the gender of the target audience would mainly be males, though females could be attracted to the video also.

Hip-Hop:

For the genre Hip-Hop I believe the age group of the target audience is around 16-40 years. For our video, this can be related to by the audience, as our main characters are teenagers/young adults, providing a pathway for connection from the audience.

For our music video, the gender of the target audience would mainly be males, though females could be attracted to the video also.
